Ontdekking vanuit Brno

Op 30 mei 2014 schrijf ik het volgende mailtje:

Dear,

On the internet I visited your website and archive. I got the information on your archive from the archive in Pardubice.

Currently I live in the Netherlands, and I am researching my family roots. I belief my grandfather’s farther was born in Pardubice. His name is Florian Anton Nesvadba. He is born in the year 1862. But the archive in Pardubice confirms that they cannot find his records in their archive.

I know very little of him or his family, and I would really like to find out more. I do know his father name (Florian Nesvadba, born around 1828), and his mother name (Katherina Michaelec). I do not know their birthdays.

From the photocopy of their (Florian and Katherina) marriage record, we learned that Florian came from Prilepy (Moravia). Please also see the attachement. That is why I turn to you to find out more about my ancestors. Can you do this part of the research for me, based on his name (Florian Nesvadba) and birth year (circa 1828)? Or maybe her information (Katherina Michalec)

What kind of information (documents) can I expect to find?

I hope you to find more detailed information about Florian Nesvadba.

I also plan to come to Pardubice, Zamrsk or Brno region, to do some more research. Please be so good to let me know how to continue my research.

Ik vind het destijds een beetje teleurstellend, vooral omdat ik er niet heel veel van kan maken en daardoor niet vind wat ik hoop te vinden. Ik laat het er bij. Voor dat moment.

Maanden later, het jagen op familiegegevens gaat met ups en downs heb ik wel gemerkt, kijk ik opnieuw naar de link die Lucie mij gestuurd heeft. En dit keer zie ik meer dan in 2014… Ik laat het haar weten, om te controleren of ik het bij het rechte eind heb. Op 3 februari 2016 mail ik haar op het eerdere mailadres.

This evening I again searched the archive, looking for a relative named Florian Nesvadba. I found something that might be interesting, but unfortunately: I cannot read it.
It is an entry in the book with births, 4 May 1828. To me it reads Florian, although I do not see the last name like ‘Nesvadba’. The year could be correct (derived from the marriage document, attached: CZEC0004D_3067_M_00010.JPG).

I was hoping that you could help me reading/translating the text. Please refer to the attachment (birth_archive.png) to this email.

Can you let me know what it reads to you?

I would like to inform you, that you’re right, this born-record really has to do with Nesvadba familly.

4. May – Florian (Haus Nummer 1) – Josef Neswadba, obrigkeitlicher Schaffer + Katherina, Tochter nach Josef Matjek, Podsedker von Lukov.

This is very nice news to hear and I am happy that you could confirm! I am glad that I searched a bit further and tried a bit harder to get the information that I am looking for. Especially since I don’t find it easy to read such old handwriting in a foreign language.

So, this means -to my understanding- that this Florian Nesvadba -who is the father of Florian Anton Nesvadba- was born in Prilepy in 1828. He was son of Josef Nesvadba.

What exactly do you mean with “obrigkeitlicher Schaffer”?
Also what is meant by “”Podseker von Lukov”, when you mention Josef Matjek?

Ik krijg antwoord op 8 februari en laat het er dan weer even bij.

Dear Mr. Nesvadba,
Schaffer means Horse Carer or Horse Groomer, simply somebody, who takes care about the horses. And Obrigkeit means Manor, so he worked for the Nobel man on some manorial farmhouse. Podsedek is very old term, very hard to explain it to English. It’s something like special kind of renter of the house and land. Pod = in English under and sedek = sit … so, literally translated it’s mean “sitting on the house/land under somebody.”
